French multinational Geopost, a pioneer in Europe in the field of parcel delivery, announced this Thursday its foray into the Argentine market to offer last mile logistics solutions. Its arrival came through the creation of the firm DPD Argentina in alliance with the local company TASA Logística.
Officials from both companies confirmed the formation of the new firm to the press and announced that they would undertake a “progressive” deployment nationally with an aim to “complete the value chain with last-mile delivery”. To do this, the first step would be in the implementation of home services because, according to him, “it is the preferred place of delivery for consumers.”
Javier Mazzarella, country manager for DPD Argentina, explained that “the momentum of electronic commerce is very strong” in the country as it “still has a very significant potential compared to other more mature markets.”
He added, “The pandemic of 2020 has completely transformed the sector and established new uses, anchoring the importance of electronic commerce. Home delivery continues to grow. This is the segment we are looking forward to with DPD Argentina Would like to cover, provides an excellent service.”
As online sales channels continue to grow and evolve, the current state of Argentine e-commerce suggests a major future for the sector. DPD Argentina commented that they also set a goal of improving B2B activity in the local logistics business, while they plan to offer DPD business services in the short term which will include a “Return my package” modality. With regard to the customers, he informed that a business portal called myDPD for Business will be made available for managing and monitoring the shipments.
