As the 2022 NFL Draft rapidly approaches, the priority position of necessity for the New York Giants along the offensive line remains clear.
The Big Blue’s offensive line has long been less than ideal and it is clear that the Giants will need to get better in that area if they plan to improve their offense overall.
Although in several early mocks the Giants selected two offensive linemen along with Andrew Thomas, in recent mock drafts the Giants have moved the defensive player to either No.5 or No.7. It also cannot be ruled out that the Giants can trade either or both of the first round picks.
It is difficult to say what the first round will be like but it is clear that the Giants are planning a second round if the Big Blue still needs an aggressive tackle.
The Giants recently hosted Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith, according to GMENHQ’s Matt Lombardo.
According to sources, I have been told #giant also hosted #tulsa OL Tyler Smith on Top-30 Tour.
If New York does not take a tackle in Round 1, Smith could be an early second round target.

New general manager Joe Scion made it clear he wanted to build through the draft, but the Giants’ front office also knows it won’t be a quick fix on the offensive line. The previous regime fantastically tried to fine line with Band-Aids, and we know how that works.
Smith was a redshirt sophistication in Tulsa and had great upside. Although his game needs some work, the belief is that he can be a starter for years to come with just some polishing.
The Giants need to find the right offensive lineman to team up with Andrew Thomas, who made great strides in his sophomore season last year. Protecting Daniel Jones and whatever quarterback he may be in before 2022 should be the Giants’ priority in fixing the offense.
