The members of Girls Aloud will run a special Race for Life to honor their late bandmate Sarah Harding’s wish to raise money for breast cancer research.
Herrill, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts will fundraise throughout the year, including a 5km running event called Race for Life for Sarah, which aims to celebrate Harding’s life as well as raise funds.
The singer died last September at the age of 39, after revealing that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, which had spread to other parts of her body.
The 5km event will take place on Sunday 24 July at the Race for Life in Hyde Park, London and Race for Life for Sarah will begin at 11.30am as a special extra, and will feature Cheryl, Coyle and Roberts.
Walsh is completing the 5km distance at her home, and those who cannot travel to London for the event are encouraged to race for life at home for Sarah at their convenience.
Posting to her Instagram Story, Cheryl said: “So around this time last year when Sarah was really sick, we were all trying to find ways to help her, comfort her, do whatever she wanted. Were trying to.
“You feel very helpless in such times.
“And the only thing she really wanted was a gala dinner, so while she was running and we were done, we thought we could do more and we did Race for Life for Sarah in Hyde Park.” Decided to do. July 24.
“And I know a lot of you wanted to support her, you were helping her all the way through the illness, and we’d really love it if you could join us there.”
