Gladys, the orca that sank over 50 ships and taught others to rebel

Gladys is an orca that is said to have sunk more than 50 ships in the area around the Gibraltar Sea between Spain and Portugal.

According to reports, Gladys is not only guilty of sinking dozens of boats, but is also the leader of a group of orcas.

In this regard, it is hinted that Gladys teaches the other orcas to mutiny, as she is credited with showing them how to attack ships going to the Gibraltar Sea area.

They record an unusual increase in interactions between orcas and ships; Point to Gladys as responsible

So far in 2023 alone, marine officials have reported 30 sightings and interactions with 53 cheetahs in the Gibraltar Sea, with Gladys’ presence prominent.

The Atlantic Orca Working Group reports that incidents between orcas and boats have increased significantly over the past 3 years.

Reports also indicate that in the interactions between the boats and the Cheetahs, there have been more than 50 drownings attributed to Gladys.

It is for this reason that an unusual increase in recent reported sightings and contacts in the Gibraltar Sea has been attributed to Gladys, the orca.

Gladys teaches the other orcas to rebel

Experts who have focused on analyzing Gladys’ attacks against more than 50 ships say that killer whales don’t just want to sink boats.

This is because it is seen that Gladys is the leader of a group of orcas whom she teaches to rebel and, like her, shows them how to attack ships.

With regard to behavior, the Atlantic Orca Working Group states that Gladys may have previously been a victim of illegal fishermen who tried to violently hunt her.

And it is that the hypotheses suggest that the orca was probably caught in the nets of fishermen, but survived.

However, it is inferred that from this conversation, Gladys aims to attack and sink a ship of some sort upon meeting it.

Smaller orcas may mimic Gladys’ behavior

Although this case could already be classified as peculiar, the strangest thing that has been observed is that Gladys’s behavior is not confined to her.

In relation to the above, it has been reported that other orcas living in the Gibraltar Sea region have also carried out attacks against ships and other vessels.

In regards to this incident, experts say that it is most likely that other orcas have started copying Gladys’ actions.

This is pointed out because it is likely that the other orcas that Gladys is teaching to rebel are young specimens that follow their “leader’s” pattern.
