SAN FRANCISCO – A crew of the Golden State Warriors traveled by boat through the San Francisco Bay, en route to Oracle Park for Game 5 of the NLDS between the Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Warriors stars Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Greene, head coach Steve Kerr were escorted on a boat by several other Golden State players in a social media post, with a Giants flag waving and some players inspired by Brandon Belt. The captain was donning a hat.
Curry posted a photo story on Instagram of the Golden Gate Bridge and tagged the Giants with a Giants flag at the front saying “Big Day in the Bay”. Curry’s brother-in-law and Warriors guard Damien Lee posted a photo of himself on the boat in a Giants-themed captain’s hat. Thompson, the Warriors multi-All-Star hoping to return this season when ACL and Achilles tears sidelined him since the 2019 NBA Finals, was also pictured in a belted-style captain hat.
Others seen on the boat include 2020 first-rounders James Wiseman and 2021 first-rounders Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga.
Kerr, a native of Southern California, is a life-long fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Thompson’s brother, outfielder Trace Thompson, has played for a handful of MLB teams – including the Oakland A and the Dodgers. However, a Southern California native, Thompson, said he hates the Dodgers because they cut off the tresses, Kerr said in 2018.
“I hated the way the Dodgers did after they cut their brother,” Kerr told reporters. “Once they released the trace. We had a team dinner the other night during Game 7 (of the NLCS) and we had a game, and Klay walked into dinner and just said, ‘Go Brewers!’ simple as that.”
There’s no information on where the Warriors can watch the game – will they stay on the yacht or sit in the stands to enjoy the live experience? With an off-day on Thursday and their final pre-season game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, this is the team’s last chance for them to rest before the start of the NBA’s long season against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 19. It is possible.
