Good news: Govt ready to fight third wave, trial of vaccine for children started in AIIMS

The country is barely emerging from the effects of the second wave of Corona. Anxiety about the third wave has already taken root. Experts warn that after the second wave of Corona, a third wave will soon enter the country. In addition, according to experts, the third wave will affect children more. And because of this, there is an atmosphere of concern across the country. According to reports, the government has started preparations to fight the third wave.

Preparations to escape the third wave

It is being said that vaccination is the only weapon to escape the third wave. But the vaccine for children in India has not come yet. India is now preparing to bring in children’s vaccines. A trial of corona vaccine covaxin on children is about to begin. A total of 16 children will be involved in the first phase of the trial. Let me tell you that Bharat Biotech had earlier tried the vaccine on children aged 12 to 18 at the AIIMS in Patna.

What is a trial process?

Let me tell you that the children will be screened first in the trial process. In which it will be seen whether they are healthy or not. The children will then be vaccinated. Children will be given a dose of covaxin during the trial. The first trial of the vaccine was held at Patna AIIMS in which children were vaccinated on June 3.

DCGI approved

The DCGI has been approved after it was recommended by the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) on May 12. Bharat Biotech got DCGI approval on May 11 to conduct clinical trials of the vaccine on children. This was followed by a trial of pediatrics for Cat Aims Patna last Tuesday.

Trial on children aged 12 to 18 years

Dr. Prabhat Kumar Singh, Director, AIIMS, Patna, said, “After these tests, the age group will be divided into 6-12 years and then 2-6 years. But now we have started trials in the age group of 12-18 years. ”

Pre-trial procedure

All the tests of the children are being done thoroughly before the trial. Dr Singh said 54 children had registered for the case. Of these, 16 were in the age group of 12 to 18 years. He said that in addition to physical testing, RT-PCR tests were also performed on these children to detect COVID-19 antibodies or any other existing diseases.
