This Monday, around 9:15 am, Grifols shares rose 1.3% after filing a complaint in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against Exploring Gotham City, its creator and director Daniel Yu, General Industrial Partners, Cyrus de Weck, and their investors.
Grifols, which led the rise of the Ibex 35 together with Repsol, registered an increase of 1.32%, reaching 9.686 euros per share.
Grifols sued bearish investor Gotham City Research
The blood products company informed the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on Friday, after the market closed, that, in response to reports questioning its accounting and solvency, it filed a complaint with the District Court in the United States in the South. District of New York against Gotham City Research, the founder and director of the fund, Daniel Yu, General Industrial Partners, Cyrus de Weck, and their associates, seeking compensation for financial and reputational damage caused to the company and its shareholders.
In the complaint, they stated that the defendants obtained “a short position” in Grifols after publishing a report “that contained falsehoods about accounting, communication, finance, and integrity in Grifols.”.
The Catalan company requested in the complaint the application of precautionary measures so that the defendants withdraw and stop their actions, while also asking for financial compensation that has not yet been calculated.
Likewise, Grifols asked the New York court to consider the defendants “fully responsible” for the illegal conduct disclosed in the complaint.
