Haas is the only American-origin team on the grid
It has offices in Maranello and Banbury.
Haas is the only American team on the current Formula 1 grid, despite this, it is not based in a US country, but in Europe like the rest of the structures. For Guether Steiner, basing the team in Europe is the right thing to do because of the way the championship is structured and states that moving to the United States would not be smart.
Interest in Formula 1 has experienced exponential growth in the United States in recent years, although American country representation on the grid remains a minority. Haas is the only American-born team and until this year, there was no American driver on the grid, something that will change with the arrival of Logan Sargent at Williams.
But despite coming from the United States, Haas is based in Europe. The current agreement between the two structures and it has its office at the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello, in Bunbury near Silverstone.
Guenther Steiner believes that being based in Europe is best for the team because of how the championship is currently structured and especially because of the budget limits in place. For this reason, he believes it is “very difficult” to operate from the United States.
“There is so much experience in Formula 1 in Europe …”, the Haas team boss told KVUE.
“I always say that nothing is impossible, but right now It gets tougher with the budget cap Because to move people you need to offer something else. The United States is also not a cheap place to employ people and you always try to do the best you can within a budget limit.”
Thus, Steiner does not consider it wise to have its headquarters in the US, although it does not rule out that the situation may change in the future. “so for now will not be a positive step team to go to the United States,” he said.
He said, “Nothing is impossible, we all know that. But would it be a wise decision? I don’t think it’s too difficult to do at the moment.”
