Hack the target and lock the target at Hayward Mall

HAYWARD – Police are investigating an apparent robbery committed by a group of people Sunday night at a jewelry store in Southland Mall, authorities said.

At about 5:25 pm, police responded to preliminary reports of possible gunfire at a mall, 1 Southland Mall Drive, and arrived without any traces of gunfire or injury, Hayward police officer Cassondra Fauvel said.

Nine people entered the mall and approached Sam’s Jewelers before using hammers to smash crates and pull valuables out of crates, according to witnesses, Fauvel said.

People then fled the mall on foot, got into at least two cars, and drove off at high speed, possibly towards Interstate 880. Both the mall and the store were supposed to close during the day around 6:00 pm, according to the website shopping center. site.

No description of the suspects or vehicles, or any connection to recent flash mob robberies in other cities in the Bay Area, was immediately available. The officers investigating the incident were required to pass information, including possible surveillance footage, to detectives in the Criminal Investigation Department.
