High School Review: Nerd Durham Hall surpassed North St. Paul in First Football Section

Cretin-Derham Hall 21, North St. Paul 6: Will Hader threw himself into a 6-yard touchdown and rode over 1,000 yards during the season when the Raiders (3-6) advanced on Saturday to the 5A class 4 semi-finals against Makhtomedi.

Haider was one of three raiders who made the swift landing, along with Luke Floisand and Durell Hall.

William Schleicher hit D’marion Suttles for a 21-yard shot in the fourth quarter, making North St. Paul the only score (2-7).

Como Park 38, Brooklyn Center 14: Santos Aguirre ran four touchdowns to move Como Park (4-5) to the semifinals of Saturday’s class 4A, Section 4 at Fridley with his best seed at 13:00.

Jude Breen also hit Stephen Rain, scoring a 35-yard shot to Puma.

Academy Force 36, Johnson 14: The Peyton Grammels show continued with the senior receiver making two more touchdowns – 30 and 18 yards – in the first quarter as Academy Force (4-5) advanced to the semi-finals of Class 4A, Section 3 on Saturday against Simley.

Ethan Petersen’s third touchdown of the night went to Max Hamms. Hammes scored on either side of the ball, also returning an interception of 17 yards to score.

St Agnes 47, Howard Lake Waverly-Winstead 0: St Agnes advanced to the semi-finals of Class 2A, Section 4 with a convincing first round win.

John Patros had three quick touchdowns for Aggie (8-1) in the first half alone, while Isaac Schmidt turned a couple of fumble rebounds into points.


Makhtomedi 2, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 1: Lucas Yee Yick cleared a loose ball in front of goal in the second overtime to send the Zephyrs to the Class 2A state semi-finals.

Yassin Hussein scored for Makhtmedi in the first half, while Jordan Altman secured Cloquet-Esko-Carlton’s only goal.


Centennial 1, Wayzata 0, PC: Centenary Sr. Ellie Hamsky buried the game-winning penalty in the top right corner to move the Cougars past Wayzatha 3-2 in free kicks in the central neighborhoods at Eden Prairie and into the class 3A state semi-finals.

Centennial and Wayzata were left without points thanks to regulations and a couple of extra periods.

Minnehach Academy 9, Proctor 1: Berit Parten scored brilliantly in the Class A quarterfinals at the Irondale, scoring five goals and three assists as the Red Hawks rolled.

Greta Carlson added two goals, including the Minnehaha Academy’s first hit just two minutes before the start of the game.
