High School Soccer Roundup: Spring Lake Park Overtakes Mahtomedi in Class 5A Heavyweight Bout

Spring Lake Park 35, Mahtomedi 7: Mahtomedi (4-1) had no answer for Friday’s flamboyant attack at Spring Lake Park between two top-10 teams in Class 5A.

Nick Ozile and Nate Litke each had flamboyant scores for the Panthers (4-1), who took a 35-0 lead in the fourth quarter.

Hastings 18, South St. Paul 12: Hastings (3-2) went 18-0 in the first half – including scoring strikes from the always-deadly connections from Axel Arnold and Stefan Reifenberger – then topped the Packers (1-4).

South St Paul scored a pair of touchdowns within 13 seconds of each other in the fourth quarter – the second returned a fumble recovery to score – but could not achieve the final score needed to top.

St. Thomas Academy 28, Irondale 14: Savian Hart scored three and Luv Adebayo added a fourth as the Cadets (5-0) remained unbeaten.

Conor Quall covered 112 rushing yards and made a touchdown for Irondale (2-3).

Park 48, Burnsville 35: Park quarterback Evan Berth threw for four touchdowns – including two long scoring strikes to Ott Omote – and Blake Johnson added three rapid scores – two of which went for more than 45 yards – as Wolfpack (3-2) Came out on top of a firing on his homecoming.

Colton Gregerson scored two for the Blaze (1-4).

Central 23, Johnson 0: Central quarterback Cole Fee lengthened three touchdowns for the Minutemen (3-2) – a 19-yard run, a 34-yard strike to Tyrese Edwards, and a 47-yard touchdown pass to Paul Rhodes.

Hill-Murray 27, Tartan 20: Running behind Hill-Murray, Sawyer Seidl ran for 247 yards and three scores to win the Pioneers (2-3).

Jesse Hawkins had a pair of 115 rushing yards and scores for Tartan (1-4). His second score – a 56-yard receiving touchdown – reduced Tartan’s deficit to seven points in the fourth quarter.

St. Croix Lutheran 21, Academy Force 14: Running behind Wyatt Hunt, the sophomore gave the Crusaders (1-4) their first win of the season. He scored three touchdowns on Friday – a 31-yard receiving touchdown and a pair rushing scores – the last of which put the Crusaders up for good in the third quarter.
