With the latest teaser introduced in early May, Honda confirmed that it is working on a new B-SUV that will target the so-called emerging markets, especially India, where it will have the likes of the Citroën C3 Aircross, Hyundai Creta Or the Renault Triber. rivals. Now some more details have surfaced: it will be called the Elevate and will be unveiled on June 5th.
What’s more: confirming that it is in its final testing phase, a unit was photographed in Japan, which indicates that despite being a low-cost positioning product, the parent company was also involved in its development . The photos give an idea of part of its design, which, as expected, will stand out for its straight lines, trying to make the most of its small dimensions while also conveying a sense of solidity and aggression.
As we mentioned at the beginning, very little is known about the new model, which could also offer 5 and 7-seater versions like the Citroën SUV or the Renault Triber. Given that it will use the same platform as the City, its engine will be the famous 1.5 i-VTEC direct injection and 120 hp, although it could also add an e:HEV hybrid version like the sedan.
Everything looks like it will be an exclusive product for India and some countries in Southeast Asia, so it will not arrive in our region. In South America we look forward to the new generation HR-V as well as the new ZR-V. Honda thus joins the ranks of brands that are eyeing the market in the Asian country due to its huge sales volume and projected growth in the coming years. It is worth remembering that the brand only sells the smaller Amaze and City there, so the presence of the B-SUV will be significant.
