Honduras received two LCM-8 ships and six off-road trucks

The Secretary of Defense of Honduras, Jose Manuel Zelaya, shows that The United States donated the Armed Forces of Honduras two boats and six off-road trucks for humanitarian work.

“We received a donation of two types of landing craft LCM-8 and six off-road trucks in Puerto Rico National Guard Assistance Program and the United States Southern Commandsaid Zelaya.

In addition, the official assured that the donation will strengthen the capabilities of Naval Force to support humanitarian work for the population.

The boats LCM-8second-hand and repowered, are amphibious barges with a payload capacity of 54.4 tons, reaching a speed of 12 knots (22 kilometers per hour) without load and 9 knots (17 kilometers per hour) fully loaded.

The equipment was delivered to the facilities of the Honduran Naval Force in Puerto Cortés, in the Honduran Caribbean, with the participation of the military authorities and the ambassador of the United States of Honduras, Laura Dogu.

“Hello, Porteños! This is my fifth visit to the lively Puerto Cortés, and on this occasion to celebrate the alliance between the naval forces of Honduras and the United States, “said Dogu. The ambassador also pointed out that the donation of boats and trucks—worth more than 1.5 million dollars—will strengthen his country’s commitment to the people of Honduras.

The head of Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Honduran Armed Forces, brigadier general Roosevelt Hernandezaccompanied by other senior officers, and the head of Puerto Rico National Guardgeneral Miguel Mendezamong other guests.
