A home on the north shore of Lake Tahoe sold for $ 47.5 million, making it one of the most expensive residential units in the region.
The house called Spirit of the Lake is located at 859 Lakeshore Blvd. at Incline Village in Nevada.
It entered the market in August 2020 at an asking price of $ 44 million, according to Realtor.com, and the sale ended on November 10 this year.
The four-bedroom home was completed in 2006, a few years after the 1.4-acre lakeside site was purchased by an organization affiliated with Dean and Madillon Meiling, according to a Washoe County appraiser. The couple own Chemeon, which manufactures special coatings for metals, and are renowned philanthropists in the Tahoe area.
The home has a home theater, gym, 1,200-bottle wine cellar, an elevator and a seven-car garage, the listing says. The sale included a grand piano and a luxury motorboat Cobalt.
It sits just below Thunderbird Lodge (Whittell Estate), which sold for $ 50 million in 1998 to developer Del Webb, and Tranquility, which sold for $ 48 million in 2013. Both of these properties, located on the eastern shore of the lake, were significantly larger, with Tranquility at 210 acres and Thunderbird at 140 acres.
In 1999, Thunderbird was taken over to the nonprofit in a tripartite federal land swap deal that provided ownership of the Del Webb project near Las Vegas. The lodge is now open for excursions.
More recently, tech tycoons Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Ellison have each spent at least $ 60 million to acquire multiple properties for Tahoe homes. Allison is also buying resort properties on the lake.
Another Lake Incline home currently on the market will break the Tahoe record for a single property if it gets the asking price: Nagi Tanka, at 575 Lakeshore Boulevard, has been up for sale at $ 60 million since July. On a 5-acre property, there is a 12,679 square foot home and a 3,800 square foot guest house, which was completed in 2012.
According to the Robb Report, the lot of the two lots was bought in 2010 for $ 11.8 million by Sean and Jennifer O’Neill.
