How to get a COVID-19 Vaccine Booster

OROVIL — COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are widely available in Butte County.

Pfizer or Moderna is authorized six months after the first two doses of booster vaccines. The J&J booster is authorized two months after the first dose is received. Anyone over the age of 18 can receive a booster as long as they follow up the proper timing after their primary vaccination.

Mix-and-match boosters are also available. This means that the booster dose does not have to be the same vaccine as the primary vaccination.

There are several ways to get a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the Butte County Public Health website, the Chico Community Vaccination Clinic will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. today and Thursday.

Today, the clinic will offer Pfizer Vaccine and Johnson & Johnson Vaccine for people 12 years of age and older. On Thursday, the clinic will offer the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. Appointments at this clinic are recommended.

The Auroville Community Vaccination Clinic will offer a booster dose at the Auroville Sports Club on December 2nd, December 9th and December 16th from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Walk ins will be accepted until supplies run out, but appointments are recommended.

Appointments for community immunization clinics can be scheduled at MyTurn.ca.gov. It is necessary to bring a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination card to the booster dose vaccination appointment.

In addition to these community clinics, Chico State has partnered with Right Aid to host on-campus vaccination clinics for the COVID-19 vaccine. The clinic is open to all Chico State students and the public.

The clinic will offer the first dose, second dose and booster dose to all eligible persons over the age of 18 years. It will also offer Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, allowing mix-and-match for booster doses. The clinic will take place in Bell Memorial Union, Room 203 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 8 and 9. The Northern Valley Indian Health Vaccination Clinic in Chico is also offering a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This clinic is at the Masonic Lodge located at 1110 W East Avenue in Chico and is by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 530-781-1447.

According to the Orchard Hospital Vaccination Clinic in Gridley, it is offering a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Medical Specialty Center at 284 Spruce St in Gridley. , Walk ins are welcome or appointments can be scheduled by calling 530-846-9080.
