The Cuban Ministry of Transportation (Mitrans) pointed out this weekend that after conducting the announced study, it was agreed to make a new and final census to legalize the vehicles assembled in parts, following the technical safety and security requirements.
“We will inform you soon of the details of the organization of the process. At the same time, the legalization of the vehicles included in the first census continues to progress. Work is being done to facilitate the installation of license plates on all authorized vehicles . We are attentive to your concerns and suggestions to ease the mobility needs of the population,” detailed the entity.
Some users asked, without an official answer so far, what happened to “the denied cases mentioned to me, which the Minister said should be investigated and how to know the outcome. ”
Last December, MITRANS announced that the deadline for legalizing vehicles assembled with parts and pieces, called “riquibiliss,” would be extended. This step has been taken since 2021, amid the transportation and fuel crisis that is still spreading and seems to have no end in the island.
“This will last until the legalization is completed and the license plate is issued, if appropriate, for all vehicles managed by the provinces,” officials said less than a month ago.

MITRANS also announced that vehicles “not properly registered or processed for various reasons” will be inspected. The results will be announced in a timely manner. “
Officials remember that procedures for vehicles assembled in parts, known as “riquibiliss”, continue to be carried out by the Provincial Transportation Directorates. Applicants should contact these offices and attend when called.
Despite the rumors circulating about the possible ban of these vehicles on January 1, 2024, MITRANS decided to extend the deadline for their legalization. And calls for the second phase to legalize these vehicles that are assembled by parties on the island and serve as private transportation in the midst of the current crisis.
