You’ve been watching your street for years. Or you’ve spent many years looking at it. and others from your city. You know what the neighborhood you live in looks like, but can you remember what it was like more than 15 years ago? And makes 10? Since it was released, the Street View function of Google Maps It has allowed us to step through streets, cities, and even wilder areas and experience them firsthand, click by click, as if we were walking. Your street 15 years ago with Google Maps Street View
If you’ve ever dreamed of being a time traveler like Doc Brown but don’t own a “custom” DeLorean, here’s your chance. For nearly a decade, you can travel back in time and see how a place has changed over the years by exploring Street View imagery on Google Maps for desktop.
Google Maps first introduced this feature in 2014, using historical imagery from previous Street View collections dating back to 2007 to create this digital time capsule of the world.
How to explore your street in different years with Street View on mobile
- Open the apps Google Maps and MIUI
- Find a place in the world For example, if you want to see how your street has changed, we tried the San Ildefonso Market on Calle Santa Barbara in Madrid.
- Dale a thumbnail of the photo on the map surface to open Street View. The street-level view appears, occupying 80% of the screen.
- See below where the street name is. It shows you the weather in the photo—”a year ago, 7 months ago. Click where it says “Show More Appointments.”
- A carousel opens with images that go back in time until the year 2008–2007 maximum. Click on the year in which you want to see the development of this area.
If you are on a computer and Google Maps is open, If you see a clock icon in the upper-left corner of a Street View image, You can click it, move the slider through time, and select a thumbnail to view the same location in previous years or seasons.
With this hidden Street View feature, you can watch the growth of a monument from its foundations, such as the Freedom Tower in New York or the 2014 World Cup stadium in Fortaleza, Brazil. This new feature can also serve as a digital timeline of recent history, such as rebuilding after the devastating 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Onagawa, Japan. You can even experience different seasons and see what it would be like to drive on Italian roads in both summer and winter.
