Invented in the 19th century, jeans, or denim pants made of cotton twill weave, have been adopted around the world for the last two centuries: first by miners, then by cowboys and farmers, later by Hollywood stars, the rebellious youth of the 50’s, the hippies of the 60s, and the like Rock stars of the 80s… And this is how designers reinterpret them every season.
The most well-known model (the one we can all easily identify) is this pair of jeans in an indigo blue tone with pockets and strong rivets, making it a solid piece of workwear. This model was patented in 1873 by Jacob Davis Levi Strauss, owner of a textile company that we now know as Levi’s. Later, in the ’50s, it became the symbol of a rebellious and rebellious youth, embodied by the actors James Dean and Marlon Brando, who managed to position jeans as a sensual garment.
