Dakota Hudson and a quartet combined to help the St. Louis Cardinals halt San Francisco’s six-game winning streak, thrash the Giants 4-0 on Saturday.
The Cardinals scored their sixth shutout of the season. The Los Angeles Angels started the day with a major league-leading seven shutouts.
Yadiyar Molina doubles, singles it and scores a run. He opened the second with a double over the wall of right-center field for his 2,128th career hit, leading him to the sixth-most among catchers by Mike Piazza.
St. Louis took a 1–0 lead in the fifth when the Giants placed runners-up in first and third with two outs. Molina dismissed Jock Pedersen and tried to steal the second to end the innings.
Tommy Edman won as the Cardinals for the second time in seven games. St. Louis has played 10 games in a row.
Hudson (3-2) made about five hits and two walks in five innings. Genesis Cabrera, Andre Pallante, Ryan Helsley and Giovanni Gallegos pitched the final four innings.

San Francisco traded utilityman Mauricio Dubon to Houston for minor league catcher Michael Papiersky, who would report to Triple-A Sacramento. The Giants recalled infielder Donovan Walton from Sacramento before the game. Walton, who was acquired from Seattle on Wednesday, started at second base and hit a double in the seventh inning.
