Hunter of the Blackhawks is the fourth woman to be named Assistant General Manager of the NHL.

CHICAGO ( Associated Press) — The Chicago Blackhawks promoted Megan Hunter to assistant general manager in a series of moves to the main office, making her the third woman to currently hold the position and fourth in NHL history.

On Tuesday, general manager Brandon Davidson announced Hunter’s promotion and other front office moves. Carilyn Pilch has also been named Director of Player Personnel, while Mark Eaton will remain Assistant General Manager of Development and Brian Campbell will retain his role as Advisor to Hockey Operations.

“Our goal is to be best in class in everything we do, and organizing structure and defining roles behind the scenes is an important step,” Davidson said in a statement. “I have great faith and trust in this leadership team and the staff that work under them and I look forward to working with our entire group to build a successful team on the ice.”

Hunter, 41, has risen through the organization since joining Chicago in 2016. She spent her last two seasons as a scout and director of hockey administration.

Hunter was a Wisconsin All-Star from 2000 to 2004 and a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award for the nation’s top college player in 2001. .

Hunter as AGM of Hockey Operations will be responsible for contracts, budgeting and other departments. Eaton will oversee the development and performance of amateur and professional players, as well as the Rockford affiliate of the American Hockey League team.

“Meghan and Mark have both been important contributors to our operations for a number of years and we are fortunate to have them in these important and renewed roles,” Davidson said. “Their leadership qualities, shared vision with the rest of the leadership team and knowledge of the game give me great confidence that we will reach our goal.”

Pilch joined the Blackhawks as a personnel scout last year after playing at Boston University and running hockey operations there and then becoming CEO of the Premier Hockey Federation’s Boston Pride.
