The low pressure created in the Bay of Bengal has turned into depression. And tomorrow, Monday, May 24, the depression will turn into a hurricane. And moving into the Bay of Bengal, a severe cyclone is likely to hit North Orissa and West Bengal next Tuesday, May 25 or Wednesday, May 26.
Cyclone Yaas is a cyclone that originates in the Bay of Bengal and strikes in Orissa or West Bengal. Following the Yaas hurricane, the Center today held a review meeting with the state government under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Patients undergoing treatment due to Cyclone Yaas, which struck at the time of the Corona epidemic, have been urged to take appropriate steps to ensure that treatment is not disrupted. Emphasis has also been placed on evacuating people living along the coast of the area where Hurricane Yaas is likely to strike as a precaution.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast that Cyclone Yaas will take effect on May 25 and 26. The coastal areas of Orissa and West Bengal in particular will receive heavy rains with gusty winds. When the hurricane hits Yaas, the wind will blow at a speed of 185 kmph and it will also rain heavily. However, the hurricane could intensify by staying at sea.
Meanwhile, in a review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, the states have assured the government of all the help they need. The Home Ministry is constantly monitoring the hurricane activity. And Hurricane Yaas is reviewing the situation.
Hurricanes form in the Bay of Bengal from late March to June every year. These hurricanes often affect the southwest monsoon as well. If a hurricane comes before the monsoon sets in, it disrupts the southwest monsoon schedule. And often the southwest monsoon coincides with the onset of the southwest monsoon in other parts of the country.
It may be mentioned here that Hurricane Tau, which originated from the Arabian Sea, caused severe damage in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Tau te hurricane also struck near Una in Gir Somnath district of Saurashtra. Due to which, in Gir Somnath district, there was heavy loss of life and property. Especially energy, agriculture, fisheries, horticulture crops were severely damaged.
