The Dean of the Illustrious College of Lawyers in Madrid, Eugenio Ribón, attended this morning the conference “The protection of minors in the digital sphere: a social and political challenge,” held by the Congress of Deputies at the request of the European Digital Transition Association (AETD).
Organized by the European Association for the Digital Transition (AETD), where Ana Caballero, president of the ICAM Children and Youth Section, is the Vice President, the day served to present the proposal for the State Pact to defend human rights for minors. in the digital sphere, analyze the role of institutions, and debate about it in the parliamentary groups of the Youth and Children Commission of the Congress of Deputies.
Francina Armengol, president of the Congress of Deputies, and Ricardo Rodríguez Contreras, president of the European Association for the Digital Transition, led the opening of the day where the sponsoring entities (European Association for the Digital Transition, Dale Una Vuelta, ANAR Foundation, iCmedia, Save The Children, Unicef), and various institutional representatives such as Mar España, director of the Spanish Data Protection Agency; Cani Fernández, president of the National Markets and Competition Commission; Rosa María Henar Hernando García, Prosecutor Attached to the Prosecutor of the Juvenile Chamber of the State Attorney General’s Office; Margarita Guerrero, general director of the Youth Institute; and Francisca Sauquillo, lawyer and honorary president of the NGO Movimiento por la Paz. The Minister of Children and Youth, Sira Rego, presided over the closing of the session.
The Children and Adolescents Section of ICAM, which was inaugurated in January, also works in this line because it is considered important that a State Pact be declared. “We are not facing a question of policies, ideologies, and parties. This is an issue of the state that must go beyond the partisan struggle,” emphasized the dean, Eugenio Ribón. In this sense, the section prepares a document with clear proposals that will be considered in the regulatory text of the future Law on the Protection of Minors in the Digital Environment.
