“If Trump hadn’t run…”

The countdown to the election in the United States is already underway and, although many things can still happen, in the remaining eleven months the focus is on two possible candidates known to the American electorate: Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

The current president stepped down a few months ago to run for re-election to face the greatness. Along these lines, this morning his statements are surprising where he leaves a small possibility of not attending the election if his opponent does not appear.

“We will not let him win for the good of the country”

“If Trump hadn’t run, I’m not sure if I would have run. But we won’t let him win for the good of the country,” he said during a fundraising event at Alan Solomont’s home in Weston, Massachusetts. Democratic donor ambassador to Spain.

“He’s running and I have to run,” he insisted shortly after arriving at the White House. Asked if he would withdraw his candidacy, he replied: “No, not now.”

Biden’s age is a problem for his re-election

Although in 2020 he promised he would be a ‘bridge’ candidate to the next generation of Democratic leaders, now, at the age of 81, Biden sees himself as the most effective candidate the Democrats have to face. Trump, whom he has already defeated in 2020. However, recent polls cast doubt on the current president’s ability to defeat the incumbent and, even within his own party, there are voices that consider his too old to face a second term.

For his part, the former president has raised the specter of electoral fraud since he lost the election in 2020. In recent months, he has adopted a harsh rhetoric that has set off alarms in Washington.
