The fundamental aspect of being able to function in this world and in this life is being able to bounce back from setbacks, said Hollywood actor Will Smith.
“I’m very happy to be here; I want to speak Spanish, but it’s very difficult for me, but we don’t have time,” he said in Spanish to young Telmex Telcel Foundation scholarship holders participating in México Siglo XXI. Meet.
The interpreter recounted parts of his life with a military father who taught him discipline, a mother who was always ready to support him, and a grandmother who tried to guide him to righteousness.
“Everyone in the auditorium definitely has to keep stumbling and making mistakes going out into the world. And I think it’s an essential aspect of life. “The most important thing is to be able to say that you’ve watered it and started the recovery process,” he said.
It’s like forgiving yourself because you’re human, and that’s what you have to do, he said, to be able to forgive yourself and move on with your life.
Will Smith expressed that there are moments in life that create fear, and people must learn to deal with them, from which lessons can never be learned.
“In my experience, I can tell you that where they’re most scared is where you have to go in and experiment and go in that direction the most,” he said.
He also advised young people to have the courage to face difficult things and to be aware that failure and mistakes can happen.
He pointed out that it’s important to get in the habit of stepping into these scary places and getting the best out of life, and also having the ability to develop through fear a critical skill that will encourage you to do so and get better every day.
“You have to learn to deal with difficult conditions,” he said. “Get carried away with the difficult things that you don’t want to learn, and that’s why you left a lot of things aside.”
“I think one of the most important things is choosing your friends. The people around you will be the ones who will help you achieve your dreams—the people you trust. If someone tells you they can’t do that, you should walk away from those people,” he said.
He added that dreams are like seeds; you need to plant them, give g them gifts, and take care of them, and the people around you will help you achieve your dreams.
Will Smith explained that you have to learn to let go of bad things because you have the opportunity to make today a better day and tomorrow a better tomorrow and not let past experiences define you.
“We can now define ourselves for the rest of our days,” he agreed.
The actor pointed out that his favorite movie is “In Pursuit of Happiness,” his favorite song is “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which he considers a masterpiece, and his favorite drink is tequila.
He also commented on the experiences he had while writing his autobiographical book that helped him see things in his life that he didn’t know existed, both personally and in his family.
“I want to be a valuable brother and help people in what we call life. It can be very difficult, and if I can shed some light on this, it will make my life worthwhile,” he said at the end.
