IND vs WI 3rd ODI: ‘Back on Bapu Gilli’, Sanju Samson has fun for Axar Patel in live match

Story Highlights

  • India eliminated Windies in ODI series
  • Sanju Samson made headlines from behind the wicket

India defeated West Indies by 119 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule in the third ODI at Port of Spain. With this win, the Indian team led by Shikhar Dhawan made a 3-0 clean sweep of the West Indies in the ODI series. Team India has cleaned the West Indies for the first time in the ODI series at their home. In such a situation, this victory was very special.

During the third one-day match, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson’s wicketkeeping was also in the limelight. During this, Samson’s funny style was also seen. Axar Patel had bowled a wide in the third over of the Windies innings, after which wicketkeeper Sanju Samson told Axar that ‘Chal Bapu just come back to the gilli.’

These words of Sanju Samson were captured in the microphone. After this, Axar Patel threw the next ball to Shai Hope very close to the ball off-stumps, on which Shai Hope narrowly escaped being caught by captain Shikhar Dhawan.

Shubman Gill misses out on century

Rain caused a lot of disruption in the third ODI match. The game stopped on two occasions in the Indian innings, due to which India could bat only 36 overs. During this, India scored 225 runs for three wickets. Opener Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 98 runs. If Gill had scored a century, it would have been the first century of his ODI career, but his dream remained incomplete for the time being. Apart from Gill, captain Shikhar Dhawan scored 58 and Shreyas Iyer played useful innings of 44 runs. Hayden Walsh Jr took the maximum two wickets for the Windies.

West Indies were bundled out for 137 runs

Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King played an innings of 42-42 runs for the Windies. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal top-scored with four, while Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each.
