Insmet: Tropical Depression Arlene dissipates over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico

Informational note from the National Civil Defense Staff on Tropical Depression “Arlene”.

According to information received from the Meteorological Institute’s Prediction Center, Tropical Cyclone Arlene in its Tropical Cyclone Warning Number 6 can be seen that it will continue to weaken over the next 12 to 24 hours.

Most significant are areas of rain, showers and lightning that will increase from the afternoon hours over the western region, extending into the central region tonight and early tomorrow Sunday. The rainfall may be heavy and intense at some places.

The province of Pinar del Río should keep an eye out for storms that hit the north coast, mainly in the Gulf of Guanahacabibes and in the settlement of La Fe. Havana should pay attention to possible light accumulation in the municipality of Lower Santa Ana, Playa.

Areas in the western and central regions should increase hydrometeorological monitoring in mountainous areas, rivers, streams and low-lying areas near coastal settlements, as well as evaluate the measures that should be taken in a timely and rational manner.

State bodies and agencies, economic entities, social institutions and the population should be attentive to information from the Meteorological Institute and disciplinedly follow the guidelines of civil defense and local authorities.
