The Wicklow-based set of Disney’s “Disenchanted” became an attraction in its own right last summer when a big-budget Hollywood production took over the town of Enniscari.
Ow the streaming giant has announced November 24, which is Thanksgiving in the US, as the release date for the much-anticipated sequel to the 2007 hit starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey.
In line with the release date, Disney Plus has released a “first-look” photo in which Adams reprises the role of Princess Gisele alongside ‘Bridesmaids’ star Maya Rudolph as the villain named Malvina Monroe.
They stand in front of a mauve-colored gate, which appears to be one of the sets used at Enniscari during filming, which took place over three months last summer and attracted huge crowds of onlookers.
Directed by Adam Shankman, the entire cast and crew spent months in Ireland last year as it was the prime location for a lot of filming alongside RDS, Greystones and Ko Louth.
It wrapped in August but producers had to re-shoot some scenes last March due to “mixed reception at a test screening” in Buckinghamshire.
The sequel also stars James Marsden who reprises his role as Prince Edward alongside Gabriella Baldacchino, who plays Dempsey’s eldest daughter, Morgan. Yvette Nicole Brown will star as Rosalyn, while Jayma Mays will play Ruby and Oscar Nunez as Edgar.
Adams previously told The Tonight Show that there would be “a lot more singing and a lot more dancing” in the sequel.
“The last time I really danced as much as I needed to dance in it, I was in my 20s, and now I’m not in my 20s,” she said.
“It feels different in your 40s. In my heart, I feel like I’m in my 20s when I’m dancing, and then I watch the playback and it’s like, ‘Wow, that’s not the same is.'”
