Cuba. In the central northern Cuban area there is now an area of the keys with a lot of tourist development based on the beauties of nature, a symbolic situation widely known in the world and classified as Paradise.

It was the fourth recreational development region in the country at the time due to its hotel capacity (behind Havana, Varadero and Holguín).

The Jardines del Rey constitutes one of the most attractive entertainment centers in Cuba, especially for Canadians, British and Argentinians, due to its natural characteristics, and the development of infrastructure and services adequate to the demand in the global entertainment market.

That name, Jardines del Rey, which has become a brand, unites many keys with tourist potential in the Sabana-Camagüey archipelago, and such baptism is due to the Spanish explorer Diego Velázquez who between 1513 and 1514 wanted to pay tribute to King Ferdinand. the Catholic.

Therefore, that name was the official name of those places until the beginning of the 20th century.

Abandoned place, which was frequented at that time by charcoal burners and fishermen with temporary residences, it became an ideal place for a perfect vacation.

It was also a place immortalized by the American writer Ernest Hemingway in the book Islands in the Gulf, where the writer chased German submarines during World War II.

Cayo Coco is the main axis of the area, whose name is due to the Coco or Ibis bird of the forest, white and with a curved beak. But the Guillermo, Cruz and Paredón Grande keys can also be found in the area, included in the tourism development plans with the potential of up to 22 thousand rooms.

Cayo Coco is the fourth largest island in the Cuban archipelago, with 370 square kilometers and 22 kilometers of coastline. Cayo Guillermo has 13 square kilometers and almost six square kilometers of beaches, including Pilar with the largest sand dune in the Caribbean (15 meters high), according to official reports.

In these areas there are more than 200 species of birds, the symbol of the Pink Flamingo, and a plant with about 385 species, including 28 endemics.

The beaches are the main attraction of the area with a total length of 38 kilometers, and although narrow, its water is crystal clear and the bottom has garlic.
