A social person accused of killing the chief police officer in Belize said in a new interview that the gun she was holding “just fired” and that she does not remember “touching” the trigger.
Jasmine Hartin, 33, shared the report on the murder of supervisor Henry Jemot in May 2021 at the seventh meeting with Pierce Morgan, which will be broadcast in its entirety on Monday.
“I don’t remember ever touching that trigger on a gun, so I don’t know what happened, to be honest,” said Hartin, whose ex-husband is the son of billionaire Lord Michael Ashcroft, in an interview, an excerpt from the Sun.
“I tried to take out the clip and it just fired – I don’t remember ever touching the trigger. So I’m not sure if it was a faulty weapon or not. “I really can’t tell you how it went,” she said
Hartin is charged with manslaughter.
She suggested that the gun may have been “rusty” and was being rigged.

“I am not a killer. And they set me up. I am. I really am. It is such a small country that everyone here is afraid of Ashcroft. They own a bank, they own a newspaper, they own the economy of this country. “
She and her ex-husband Andrew Ashcroft are in the midst of a bitter battle over custody of their five-year-old twins.
On the night of the shooting, Hartin said that she and Jemot decided to sit on the dock with a drink, but before they left, he wanted to take a gun.

“And I thought it was weird,” said the native Canadian.
“He said he always carries it everywhere with him. So he went and got it. ”
Hartin told Morgan that the police chief suggested she get a firearms license and allowed her to handle his gun for the second time in a few days to practice loading and unloading weapons.

When the gun was in her hand, she said: “I thought it was empty.
Hartin denied rumors that she and Jemot were romantically connected, calling him a friend he met Andrew Ashcroft. She said Ashcroft should have joined them on deck before he decided to stay at the last minute.
At one point, she said that Jemot asked her to rub his shoulder that night, but she denied that it was a sexual thing because he had gone fishing earlier.

She also dismissed speculation that she was a party girl who used cocaine extensively.
“I wondered the same thing. The only thing I can remember is who would use such rumors? “She said according to Sun’s excerpt.
“Obviously, it would be useful in the case of guardianship, it would be useful in many ways if they perceive me as this wild cocaine addict. That’s just not true. “

When Morgan mentioned her ability to handle a gun, stating that she smashed a watermelon with a rifle that was recorded on the video, Hartin insisted that she was not an expert and that she never owned a gun.
“And what that video doesn’t show you is ten times when I tried to hit that watermelon and missed, and that video was shot by my ex,” Morgan said.
Last year, she admitted to the authorities that she was practicing loading a gun when he fired and killed Jemot.
Hartin told Morgan, according to the excerpt, Jemot was a meter or two away when the gun fired, and then when he fell on her, she “could see blood and feel blood”.
She said she had heard many stories about how the fatal night went.
“I heard that I executed him, that it was an attempted rape, and I defended myself. I heard that I lured him there and that Andrev shot him.
“It simply came to our notice then. He was my friend. He didn’t break in on me. I considered Henry a protector. “
