A few weeks ago we told you that Jetour, a car brand from China, was preparing for its arrival in Mexico. Today, more details are finally being released, including warranty issues, the number of dealers, sales targets and, of course, the prices of its first models.
Let’s quickly review where Jetour comes from. The brand was founded in Wuhu, China in 2018 and, at least in its home market, shares some technologies with Chery, although it will have no relationship with Chirey in Mexico. It comes to our market thanks to LDR, the same giant that brings Foton commercial vehicles.
Jetour will begin operations in Mexico as of April 15, and a network of 26 businesses will begin in Merida, Villahermosa, Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico City, Puebla, Morelia, Leon, Celaya, Irapuato, Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Culiacán; Querétaro, Monterrey, Saltillo, Torreón and Tijuana.
It is interesting that, even in the case of the sale of the brand through an importer, its goal is to start the construction of a plant in our country in 2024, to be able to export from Mexico to the rest of Latin America. even Canada and the United States at some point.
What are the Jetour models for Mexico?
During the brand’s presentation in Mexico, some unique models of the first two models that will be available were announced. The range will be entirely in SUVs, and the Jetour X70 will have an entry model. It is a 4.72 meter long SUV, with a 145-hp 1.5 turbo engine.
No specific specifications have been released, but apparently the unit that will be exhibited at the event will have a smart key, electric parking brake, automatic climate control, heated front seats, ambient lighting, leather upholstery and four airbags. Its starting price is 489,900 pesos, competing against Tiggo 7 Pro, Corolla Cross and Taos.
The second model that Jetour will initially sell in Mexico is the X70 Plus, a 4.74 meter long SUV to compete against the Tiguan, Sportage, X-Trail and the like. It will have a 194-hp, 214-lb-ft 2.0-liter turbo engine. Not many details have been released, but we observed three screens, one for A/C control, panoramic roof, driver modes, adjustable front seat controls, and ambient lighting. Its price is 629,900 pesos.
As for the warranty, the marking speaks of a 10-year or one million kilometers insight, and a 7-year or 200,000 km bumper-to-bumper warranty.
They will join three new models in the coming months, all belonging to the SUV category, including futuristic-focused models such as the Jetour Dashing and Voyager, as well as the X90 Plus with three rows of seats.
