The affected person told the Prosecutor’s Office that he had sold his corner right in the San Miguel cemetery, and also used one of the spaces.
Mr. Nicholas made public complaints about the illegal sale of monuments in the General Cemetery of San Miguel. Some were surprised that the monuments had been used.
The plaintiffs confirm that they have documents supporting the said purchase; This is the case of José Antonio Reyes Peña, who has documents of purchase of six denarii, dated March 10, 1989.
However, on August 1, 2022, a notice sent by the San Miguel mayor’s office to the Office of the Attorney General (FGR) about the anomalies in the cemetery, Reyes Peña decided to investigate the legal status of his graves. Mr. Miguel was surprised by the monuments that had already been sold and explained that “there is already a person buried there”.
“When I heard the rumors about the sale of the right to the nicholas, I gave myself the task of investigating those in the year 1989, and I was surprised that they had already been invaded by other owners. They sold them again on March 22, 2017. I feel like I was offended by this chance,” said Reyes Peña.

Another record was sold on December 5, 2017. When I found out that they sold the premises that I bought in 1989, I asked for all the documents and filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office, but they don’t have any. I was given an answer,” said Peña Reyes.
A case was brought before the FGR in August 2022, in which it demands an investigation into whose properties it is entitled to “sell”.
“I feel neglected and offended by the authorities; They did not do anything to declare and return the ownership of those houses to me, my voice was not heard. For them I received that when I die, I can bury the family, but today I do not do it anywhere,” Reyes explained.

In August 2022, Mayor Will Salgado declared that due to a citizen’s complaint, he began an investigation into the sale of illegal proceeds in the municipal cemetery. “He wrote to me on the social network, he explained to me in confidence what was going to happen and I told him to investigate us. I ordered the Municipal People’s Corps Agents to start an investigation into the internal audit of the mayor’s office, an investigation that has been carried out for six years and this year of my municipal government,” the mayor declared.
