Josh Jacobs confirms he’s back with the Raiders for a year

Josh Jacobs posted “I’m back” on social media on Saturday after agreeing to a one-year deal to play with the Las Vegas Raiders this season.

The contract is valued at $12 million, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity, as the terms were not disclosed.

Jacobs would have received $10.1 million this season if he had signed the franchise title. The deal is similar to the one running back Saquon Barkley agreed to stay with the New York Giants last month.

Jacobs led in rushing yards with 1,653 last season and was expected to sign with the Raiders and not miss the season, but his prolonged absence raised questions.

He made it clear he wouldn’t enjoy playing with the franchise tag and admitted during the Pro Bowl that he would be the “hero turned villain.” Now that both sides have reached an agreement, they can focus on the season, where the Raiders will be sure to put their trust in their running back.

Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels hinted during camp that Jacobs will likely have the same workload as last season, but acknowledged that every player needs to train to get back to the same load, so it’s possible that Jacobs is coming back little by little

With two weeks to go before the season starts on Sept. 10 against the Denver Broncos, her rivals in the AFC West, Jacobs will have plenty of time to re-acclimate.
