‘Kenobi’ Star Hayden Christensen Had a ‘Vader Movement Specialist’

Being on the dark side comes at the cost of mobility.

Hayden Christensen, who will appear in the upcoming Disney Plus series “Kenobi” as the iconic villain Darth Vader, revealed on Wednesday that he hired a special choreographer to perfect the way the Dark Lord walks, reports Entertainment Weekly. worked with.

“We had this woman who was like a Vader movement expert,” Christensen said. “And he made sure we were always in the right ballpark.”

The 41-year-old “Shattered Glass” actor, who briefly portrayed the villain in “Revenge of the Sith,” also revealed that the suit actually changed the way the character had to walk.

Christensen explained, “We wanted to make sure that we understand how Vader moves and how we understand him, and we want to keep everything relatively consistent.”

Joan Jenson, who worked with Christensen on “Kenobi”, has been part of several high-profile projects including James Cameron’s upcoming “Avatar: Way of the Water” and “Remember the Titans”.

“It’s challenging,” Christensen told EW, recalling the discomfort the first time he actually put on the black suit.

“I was having a really hard time getting around in it, and it was all extremely harsh. And I told George [Lucas], and he said, ‘Okay. You are the first time in this suit. So it shouldn’t sound too mechanical and maybe too natural.'”

Christensen stresses the importance of helping someone in the movement, as the show is set 10 years after the character first put on Suits and has plenty of time to adapt to it.

Another question that has cropped up since it was announced that Vader would be returning: Who will voice him? At this time, it is unknown whether James Earl Jones – who provided the voice for Vader since his first on-screen appearance in 1977 – will return to voice.

“Obviously, we’re staying true to the voice we all know and love,” Christensen said.
