Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski returned to Minnesota for the first time after serving as Vikings assistant coach from 2006–19, ending his tenure as offensive coordinator before taking the job for the Browns. Also returning for the first time will be special-team coordinator Mike Prefer, who served with the Vikings from 2011–18.
After starting 0-2, the Vikings secured their first win of the season 30-17 last Sunday over Seattle. It was their first of three straight home games, the third being against Detroit on October 10.
Against the Seahawks, backup running back Alexander Mattison replaced injured starter Dalvin Cooke, and shot his career high with a run of 112 yards. Cook is listed as a suspect for Sunday’s game, but there is optimism he will play.
The Browns had nine sacks in their 26-6 win over Chicago last Sunday, including a 4½ by defensive end Miles Garrett. He was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
The teams last played in 2017, with the Vikings winning 33–16 in London. Brown’s last trip to Minnesota was in 2013, when he won the Metrodome 31-27.
