Another season dedicated to tribute is approaching in the United States of America. Meanwhile, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is calling on Americans to prepare documentation before tax season begins.
The IRS also reminds Americans that there are free digital tools to prepare tax information. Among these virtual tools available to taxpayers are Free File and Direct File.
Starting next Monday, the 29th of this month, the IRS will begin collecting and reviewing sworn declarations of citizens. These tax returns belong to the previous year, and all individuals or companies with tax obligations must submit this document.
The federal agency reported that more than 128 million citizens can send their tax returns. The last deadline to make the declaration of tax duties official is April 15, 2024.
Taxpayers are entitled to an extension
However, the IRS is offering a deadline extension for residents who are struggling to file their taxes on time. The authorities will grant an extension until the 15th of the tenth month of this year.
Interested parties who need to extend the time to submit a tax return must request a Form 4868 (SP) before April 15. The IRS provides calendar extensions for tax returns but does not establish extensions on due dates.
The IRS has 21 days to distribute tax refunds after analyzing the population’s returns. People waiting for that moment should send the declaration online and wait for a bank deposit.
Citizens who apply using the printed form will wait 6 or 12 weeks for a check in the mail. After declaring taxes, users can consult tax refunds through the Where’s My Refund?
