On Tuesday, January 16, a 34-year-old man lost his life in the city of Granada in Atarafe after another person fired several shots at him. The events that took place around the municipal health center, where the health workers did nothing to save the victim’s life due to his injuries, and ended in death. The victim was identified as Cheíto.
The alleged perpetrator, a 23-year-old young man, later turned himself in. and volunteered at the barracks of the Civil Guard, where he recognized the facts.
The criminal background
The Civil Guard already knew the family of the victim and the shooter were fighting before the attack that took place on Tuesday, but its motive has not been confirmed.
But it turned out that the 23-year-old single man who surrendered at the barracks was the brother of another man who disappeared on July 13, 2023, in that town, and nothing has been heard since then.
Last summer, Alejandro Muñoz, a 25-year-old young man from Atarfe, in Granada, lost track of her. A special search device organized by the Civil Guard, in which almost thirty people participated, searched for him without success in the area of Cubillas Reservoir.
Agents from the Civil Guard and the Atarfe Local Police, Civil Protection volunteers, an aerial search drone, several canine units, a Civil Guard helicopter, and specialists from Special Groups for Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Armed Institute will be present when it is necessary to search the waters of the swamp.
Together with them, many residents of Atarfeños made extensive searches of the town and its nearby areas to look for any clues that could shed light on Alejandro’s disappearance.
The possible relationship
Although it was not revealed if there was a relationship between the two events, the sister of the shooter, Nazaret, explained to the Vamos a Ver program that his brother suspected Cheíto about the disappearance of Alejandro. If so, this can be a motive for crime, but this is an extreme that has not been confirmed.
The woman also explained that this threatened the alleged killer of Cheto’s family. They told him they were going to burn his house, and many times he felt watched and persecuted. Nazareth now fears that there will be revenge and apologizes to the victim’s family. “Leave peace; let there be no more blood,” he pleaded in front of the camera.
They guarded the killer’s house
The 23-year-old single man, who confessed to the shooting, remains detained in Civil Guard facilities after being taken to the barracks with the murder weapon. It is expected to be filed in court in the next few hours.
Meanwhile, the Civil Guard has strengthened surveillance tasks in this town in the Granada metropolitan area with Citizen Security Units. The deployment of troops was most visible in the area of the old soccer field, but it spread throughout the municipality.
