CHICAGO ( Associated Press) – Bo Bichette hit a Grand Slam and Alejandro Kirk scored for the second game in a row as Ross Stripling and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 on Wednesday.
The second Grand Slam of Bichette’s career was scored in the fourth inning of a five-run run by Toronto, which avoided a three-game series sweep.
Kirk had an RBI single in the first innings and a homer to center field in the third. He leads the voting for the All-Star Game in the American League to the position of catcher.
Similarly, he is the leader among Major League catchers in batting average (.307) and OPS (.857). In five games this season against the White Sox, Kirk hit .364 (8-for-22) with four homers and eight RBIs.
Lucas Giolito (4-4) conceded seven runs and season-high 11 hits in five innings. He now has a 9.47 ERA in his last five starts.
Kirk is 4-for-9 with three home runs and six RBIs against Giolito.
Stripling (4-2) conceded one run in six innings. He dropped five spaced-out hits and didn’t let a runner pass a second until the sixth, when Josh Harrison scored from first on a single from Louis Robert.
For the Blue Jays, Dominican Santiago Espinal scored 4–1, Vladimir Guerrero Jr scored 5–1, Teoscar Hernández scored 4–2 and scored two, Raimel Tapia 4–0. Mexican Kirk scored 5-2 and two RBIs. Cuban Lourdes Guriel runs 4-2 on it and with an RBI. Venezuela’s Gabriel Moreno scored 4-2 with one run.
Dominican Leuri Garcia 4-0 for the White Sox. Cubans Robert 3-1 with an RBI, Jose Abreu 3-1 with a run.
