Korontzi folk music band was formed in 2004 by Trikitilari Agus Barandiyaran. It was intended to give a more modern and contemporary aspect to Basque popular music as well as to the ancestral and traditional sounds of this land, but always in the context of music based on triquetix and other traditional instruments, such as the tuxalaparte or alboca, within the whole tradition. Never forget the full respect he received from his first teacher, Tricitillari Rufino Arola (1909–1996). , To achieve this new sound, he surrounded himself with more modern musical styles and received the aid and association of instruments such as the mandolin, electric bass, double bass or percussion.
