Kristen Stewart announced on Tuesday that she was getting married and explained how thrilled she was that her fellow screenwriter Dylan Meyer took the initiative to propose.
“We’ll get married, we’ll totally do it,” Spencer actress explained to Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show, according to People. “I wanted to be proposed to me, so I think I formulated very clearly what I wanted, and she did it. It was really sweet, she did a very good job. We are getting married, it is happening. “
Stewart’s engagement announcement adds even more potentially happy news this fall for the star who first rose to prominence as a high school girl turned vampire in the Twilight movies. Stewart leads the Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Princess Diana in the indie biopic Spencer.

Regarding her engagement, Stewart joked to Stern that in a relationship between two women, it might be a little tricky to know who would be proposing the marriage.
“With two girls, you never know who will fill this weird (swearing) gender role,” Stewart said, according to People. “We don’t do it and we don’t think about it in such terms. She just grabbed this bowl and did it. It was … so sweet. “
Stewart told Stern in a November 2019 interview that she was impatient to ask her. Stewart said she has several scripts for Meyer’s proposal, but won’t share them with Stern or his audience.
“I can’t tell right now because she will find out,” Stewart joked. “I have some of the coolest plans.”
Stewart and Meyer reportedly met on the set of the movie seven years ago, but they didn’t become a couple until August 2019, when they snapped pictures of kissing in New York City, People told People. Stewart told Stern how they reconnected a few years later and “all bets were dropped.”
“She lit up at a friend’s birthday party, and I thought:“ Where have you been and how I didn’t know you? Stuart said to Stern.
Stewart and Meyer kept their relationship out of sight for the most part. Stewart admitted in an October 2020 interview that at times she “shied away” from talking too publicly about who she was dating.
This is understandable given that her four-year relationship with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson has been followed by entertainment and social media. Although Stewart once described Pattinson as her first love, it has been speculated that she and Pattinson were dating only for publicity. The study of the relationship intensified when Stewart was convicted of cheating with Rupert Sanders, the married director of her film Snow White and the Huntsman. Stewart and Pattinson parted ways for good in 2013.
During an interview with InStyle, Stewart talked about how difficult it is for her to juggle her personal life while living with immense fame. She said she was never ashamed of being gay, but was afraid to talk too much about her personal life.
“In a way, I didn’t like giving myself to the public. It was like stealing, ”she said.
“It was a period of time when I was kind of shy,” she continued. “Even in my previous relationship, which was straightforward, we did everything we couldn’t to get our picture taken, doing things – things that wouldn’t be ours. So I think the added pressure of representing a group of people, representing queerness, was not what I understood then. Only now can I see it. “
