Lies usually come back

The former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, responded to the statements of the current president, Daniel Noboa, who suggested that during the Correismo administration, the consolidation of criminal organizations in the country began.

“I think that during his government, I won’t say that he (Correa) spread the seed, but during his mandate, these groups started; these groups are now very powerful narcoterrorists, and they became . strengthened by the following governments,” said Noboa in an interview with the Colombian radio station La FM, which was echoed by the Ecuadorian media.

For his part, the former president reacted quickly and wrote on his X account that “the lies of the mediocre are back.” “Believe the impossible and deny the obvious. And seven years have passed since we became the government. In short, they have always been corrupt,” he said.

Ecuador is embroiled in a war against organized crime, which Daniel Noboa declared when he recognized the existence of “an internal armed conflict,” while declaring some of these groups “terrorist organizations and non-state actors.”

After the declaration of internal armed conflict in Ecuador, Correa stated that the current crisis was not the responsibility of Noboa but of his predecessors, Lenín Moreno and Guillermo Lasso, whom he accused of allowing the infiltration of organized crime mafias within the state. .

In addition, at that time, Correa expressed his support for Noboa on social networks, with a strong call for national unity: “All support, president, unity.”
