Lindor 4 shakes; The Mets beat the Marlins

MIAMI ( Associated Press) — Francisco Lindor made home a double for four RBIs, and the New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 5-3 on Friday night.

Mark Canha also homed, while Taijuan Walker covered just six innings with a three-hit ball for the NL East-leading Mets.

Walker (6-2) dropped eight hits, walked twice and hit five.

All three runners scored on Lindor’s double in the sixth inning, when the bases were loaded. Thus New York took a 5-2 lead.

Dominican Sandy Alcantara (7-3), Miami’s starter and who came into the game with an ERA of 1.72, scored five runs – four earned – and allowed six hits in seven innings. The right-handed batsman has played at least seven innings in nine straight starts.

Before Lindor’s double, Starling Marte appeared to hit for a double play. The Mets successfully contested, indicating that second baseman Willians Estudillo had not overtaken Brandon Nimmo.

Also, Marte had overtaken “Turtle” Estudillo’s shot at the start. Puerto Rican Tomas Nido, who opened the innings with a single, reached third base.

Dominican Marte scored a 4-0 run for the Mets. Puerto Rican Lindor scored 4-2 and scored four RBIs, Nido 3-1. Venezuela’s Luis Guillorme 4-0, Eduardo Escobar 3-0.

Venezuela’s Estudillo 2-1, Jess Aguilar 4-0, Avicel García 4-0 for the Marlins. Cuba Jorge Soler 5-2. Dominican Jesus Sanchez 2-1.
