Liz Truss resigned as Britain’s prime minister on Thursday and will step down after a week of new emergency elections to find her successor, she announced outside Downing Street.
The announcement came after 45 days in office, during which the truce budget fell through, he lost the confidence of two key ministers and almost all of his own MPs.
The statement came after a meeting in Downing Street with Conservative MPs committee chair Graham Brady, his deputy prime minister Therese Coffey and party chairman Jake Berry.
Britain’s economic crisis began when efforts were made to reduce taxes for the wealthy. Today Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned. There is a lesson to be learned.

Truss said he came into office with a vision of a “high-growth, low-tax economy that would take advantage of Brexit freedoms.”
However, she stated that “I believe that, given the situation, I cannot fulfill the mandate for which I was elected by the Conservative Party. I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to inform him that I am leaving the Conservative Party.” I am resigning as leader.
“This morning I met Sir Graham Brady, Chair of the 1922 Committee. We have agreed that a leadership election will be completed within the next week. This will ensure we remain in office to meet our financial plans And maintain our country’s economic stability and national security. I will continue as Prime Minister until a successor is chosen.”
Truss is the shortest-serving Prime Minister in British history.
