The Mexican government announced the plenary session of the summit “For brotherhood and good neighborhood” where Nicolás Maduro revealed that his government already had secret negotiations and signed documents with the United States as the first step towards lifting economic sanctions against his country.
However, the president assured that after signing, they put conditions on it to advance the issue and therefore threatened to make public the photos of the meetings.
“Now when it was signed they threatened us, then they put a condition on us if we don’t do this, this and this, something that was never discussed, something that was never discussed with them and if I showed the secret documents we signed and the signature photos, They don’t like to lie“They put conditions on us,” he quipped.
He recalled that because of the opposition agreements, it is possible to obtain licenses that include the possibility of making transactions in the energy sector for six months. In addition, transactions are allowed by the mining company Minerven, among others.
“What I’m going to say is secret, because there are no cameras here, don’t leave here, no cameras or phones, recently after six rounds of negotiations, we reached agreements with the United States government that means what you. know, to sign a political document with the opposition sector,” he said.
And so far, only the negotiations that exist between the government of Maduro and the opposition are known, but nothing is known about a round of meetings between the governments of Venezuela and the United States directly.
Despite this, Maduro said he was optimistic and assured that he had faith in the American Union to keep his word given that the lifting of sanctions would allow the flow of migrants from their country to North America to be reversed.
In front of the invited presidents, he repeated that In one year I would achieve this goal.
“And I hope we can, with the support of Latin America and the Caribbean, with the great support you have given us in public. during his five years in office achieve the removal of all criminal sanctions against Venezuela,” he concluded.
