Volleyball in California Maggie Lee moved further into the conference record books on Monday as he was honored with his sixth Pac-12 Freshman of the Week award after a combined 38-kill performance against the LA schools.
Li’s 15 kills against No. 24 USC on Friday were a team-high. She also posted 10 digs for her 11th double-double of the season. She led the way with a game-high 23 kills to lead the Bears to their first win over UCLA since 2018 on Sunday, ending Cal’s set-winning streak with a kill and ending the match with three consecutive points.
Cal’s star freshman is tied for the second-most rookie awards in conference history. She also tied Cal standout Mia Jerkov (2001-03) for the most Pac-12 weekly awards in her career and alone for the most in a season. At the moment, Li is ranked among the top four freshmen in the country and among the top four overall Pac-12 players in kills (432), points (481.5), kills per set (4.00), and points per set (4.46).
Li and the Bears return to action Wednesday at home against Colorado at 1 pm PT and finish the 2023 season at No. 2 Stanford on Friday at 7 pm
