The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Wednesday that a man shot by police in Forest Lake on Sunday has died.
Bradley George Erickson, 47, was injured in a shooting following a police chase in a Washington County suburb and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Erikson of Forest Lake died in hospital on Wednesday.
The BCA identified the officers who discharged their weapons during the incident: Forest Lake Officers Jonathan Glader and Matthew Smith and Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Reiter. According to the BCA, Glader has been in law enforcement for 16 years, Smith for 17 years and Reiter for 26 years. All standards are on administrative leave.
Forest Lake Police said that around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Erickson arrived at the Forest Lake home of a man who had filed an order of protection against him, and threatened to harm the person and any police, Forest Lake Police has said.
Officers answering a 911 call at the home found Erickson in a vehicle and tried to stop him, but he fled, according to police.
Officers forced Ericsson’s vehicle to stop at the 7000 block of the North Shore Trail, where it “posed a threat to officers and opened fire,” police said.
The police gave first aid to the man till the paramedics arrived and he was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
According to the BCA, parts of the incident were caught on body worn cameras and squad cameras. This matter is under investigation.
