Whether in comedy, architecture, theatre, music, or the culinary world, every producer has found innovative ways to break from tradition and bring their unique experiences to their work.
First, Andre de Shields reflects on his 50-year career and his most recent role in the Broadway musical Hadestown. He shares his brief but scintillating role on how to live your most authentic life.
We turn to groundbreaking comedian Zivee, who has used the craft to spark insightful conversations about race and racism. During the summer of 2020, she resumed her Youtube interview series “Bated” for Instagram Live, where she invited guests from all backgrounds, industries and notorieties to answer questions about race.
We also hear from Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter, Aroz Aftab. Aftab speaks of his diverse artistic influences—from jazz to traditional Middle Eastern music—and his style, which he calls Neo-Sufism.
We hear from Julie Bergman, whose creative eye has always seen beauty, community, and the potential for restoration, wherever she goes. Together with his team, he has transformed countless abandoned and dilapidated sites into attractive, functional community spaces.
Finally, we turn to chef and content creator Joan Lee Molinaro, who uses her TikTok account, to share her family’s refugee story. Known as a “Korean vegetarian,” she recounts her family’s history while cooking up vegetarian-friendly versions of traditional Korean dishes.
