Leading by two points at halftime, the St. Thomas men’s basketball team was overwhelmed by Oral Roberts in the second half and lost 88-66 in a Summit League game Saturday night in Tulsa, Okla. It was the Tomms’ seventh loss in a row.
The Tommies (8-14, 2-8) led by as many as six points early in the game and maintained a 36-34 advantage at the half. But Oral Roberts (16-8, 10-3) dominated the final 20 minutes, outscoring St. Thomas 54-30 in the second half.
Park Bjorklund led the Tommies with 25 points, while Riley Miller added 10 and Dorn Martinelli nine.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Oral Roberts 73, Tommies 67: St. Thomas (6-15, 3-8) rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to send the game to overtime before falling to Oral Roberts (12-11, 7-5) in a Summit League game at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul.
Jade Hill, a freshman guard from Minneapolis, scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Tommies. Teammate Jo Langbehn, a freshman center from Elk River, added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
MEN’S HOCKEY
Michigan Tech 2, Tommies 0: The 15th-ranked Huskies (16-8-2, 13-5-1 WCHA) outshot Thomas (2-25-1, 2-19-1) 36-13 in a shutout victory at St. Thomas Ice Arena.
Tommy Parrottino scored in the first period for Michigan Tech, then Bret Thorne added an insurance goal in the third.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
Tommy 3, St. Cloud State 2: St. Thomas (5-20-1, 3-18-1 WCHA) scored three unanswered goals in the third period to rally from a 2-0 deficit and beat the Huskies (8-16-2, 3-15-2) in St . Cloud, Minn.
Anna Solheim, Abby Promersberg and Megan Cornell scored for the Tommies. The teams meet in the second game of the weekend series at 2 pm Sunday at the St. Thomas Ice Arena.
