The German brand should remember the Mercedes S-Class, but only in one unit. Apparently, it was affected by a defect that could cause a part of its roof to fly off.
Cars, when they are manufactured, usually go through a series of inspections and quality control. However, the possibility of defects occurring in the units sold is frequent, and therefore, brands must create a call for inspection. This is what happened to a Mercedes S Class.
Specifically, Mercedes called for a review of an S 580 from 2021, which is amazing. Not because of the car itself, but because only one example was called. Usually, checks are made on some shipments of models that may be affected by a defect, but this case is different.
As the brand points out, everything starts with a review of the documents, where they learn something. Obviously, the adhesive applied to a glass panel on top of the windshield may not hold throughout the vehicle’s life cycle, which creates a safety problem.
Because of this, a Mercedes S Class was called for inspection in the United States, and this is the brand that contacted the owner, because no problem has been found by the driver. As detailed by the company, when they spoke to the owner, there were no warranty claims or any reports of vehicle failure.
In this way, the star’s own signature detects and points to the problem, which can have serious consequences: if the aforementioned glue fails, that part of the glass in the ceiling could fly when the vehicle is moving, thus creating a potential risk of accident for any road user. Fortunately, that was not the case in the end.
With this, we now only have to work with the S-Class called for review, a process expected to take about two and a half hours of work. Thus, the glass can be removed to be replaced with the adhesive, as well as to verify that the panoramic roof is working properly.
So, now this defect does not seem to have serious consequences for anyone, and the car owner can enjoy it without worry. This is the minimum, considering that we are talking about a model that, now, costs 156,230 euros in Spain on the S 580 4Matic engine.
