Messenger Lite says goodbye to us forever, with a version not only designed for low-end smartphones.
There was a time when various tech companies released simpler versions of their most popular apps, and in this case, it happened with Messenger, the instant messaging app built into Facebook.
Messenger Lite has allowed users to take advantage of Facebook’s instant messaging application on lower-end mobile phones, especially in emerging markets.
Since low-end Android phones already available in emerging markets can run apps like Facebook or Delivery Boy, Meta believes that the existence of Messenger Lite no longer makes sense, and in a few days it will be completely eliminated.
However, the application can no longer be downloaded by new users. If you’ve already downloaded them, you can download them again, but with a warning.

Meta urges these users to download Messenger Lite again or continue using this app. that it’s time to switch to the main messenger app.
But Messenger Lite wasn’t just popular in emerging markets; users with more powerful phones also downloaded the app to get away from the clutter and huge feature set of the main app.
So if you were annoyed by all the superfluous functions of the normal Messenger, the Lite version gave you the opportunity to just focus on the conversation.
Meta has confirmed that the Messenger Lite app for Android will be fully retired on September 18th.
