Mexico has 13 matches in the 2026 World Cup; the final will be in New York

Mexico will host a total of 13 matches for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held with the United States and Canada, with 10 in the group stage and three in the final or elimination phase.

The tournament has a new format with an increase in participants from 32 to 48, making it the biggest World Cup in history with a total of 104 matches.

This Sunday, it was confirmed that the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City will be the venue where the championship will open on June 11, 2026, a fact that further increases its status as a historic soccer field, as it is the first in the world to inaugurate a World Cup three times.

In total, the Azteca Stadium will have five games: three in the regular round, one in the round of 32, and another in the round of 16.

Akron Stadium in Guadalajara has four games, all from the first round.

Meanwhile, the BBVA Stadium in Monterrey also has four games: three in the group stage and one in the round of 16.

On the other hand, FIFA also reported that the 2026 World Cup final will be held at the MetLife Stadium in New York, New Jersey, on July 19.

The game for third place will take place on Saturday, July 18, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
